Casey High School Class
of 1957 held their 55th Reunion Dinner on Saturday, 1 September 2012 at
the First Christian Church in Casey. The reunion was dampened a bit by
sorly needed rain but everything went smoothly. Bob Rue
welcomed everyone, introduced our attending teacher, Doris Lee
and a prayer was offered by Gene Southard .
Prior
to the meal, Bob Staley attempted to corral the class for a couple of
pictures
and during that event, we were led in an old Casey High cheer...Gimme' a
C ....Gimmie' an A... etc., by Eleanor Evans
and she demonstrated that she still maintains a bit of flexability as
you will see below. Afterward, we were treated to a catered buffet
meal. Bob
introduced the MC, John Slusser ,
and the program proceeded. Gene Southard and Kay Hunsaker
honored those 29 classmates
who have passed followed by Paul Stephen
honoring those members of the class who served and led us in the Pledge
of Allegiance. The
program continued with John Slusser's recollectiions of events which had
occured during our time at CHS with participation of many of the class
members including Linda Jensen's
story about Ben Orrell
and the bee up the nose. Roger Smith
and Bob Hunt
came up with several trivia questions, of which many stumped the
class. Then Bob Cochonour
presented awards to classmates for longest distance traveled, number of
great grandchildren, married the longest, the oldest and many other such
considerations. For example, Eleanor received
for being newlywed with instructions to split it with her husband
because 2-1/2 hours should sufice at their age. Five might be
problematic. Finally,
Bob Rue continued with a class meeting and it was voted that Bob
Cochonour would be the organizer for the next class reunion. Closing
was performed with a song from Linda Jensen and a prayer by Carl
Anderson. Special
thanks to the CWHS Superindendent Dee Scott for reproducing our personal
data sheets passed out at the reunion. In addition, the school
loaned us the slide show projector used to display the DVD Slide show
mentioned below. See
you in
5 years! Hard to believe, no? What will have changed by
then? And,
